Professional Residential Painters in Edmonton & Area

Interior painting costs vary depending on the size of the project, the condition of the surfaces, preparation and repairs required, colour changes, ceiling height, access, and whether walls, ceilings, doors, trim and baseboards are included. Art-tek Painting Co. recommends an in-person assessment for larger interior projects so the estimate reflects the actual condition and scope of the home rather than relying only on generic square-foot pricing.

Most residential projects require two finish coats. Significant colour changes, very light colours over dark surfaces, porous substrates or heavily weathered surfaces may require additional preparation, primer or another coat to achieve proper coverage and a uniform finish.

Yes. Painting before move-in is often easier to coordinate because the rooms are still empty and painters have better access to walls, ceilings, doors, trim and baseboards. Art-tek can coordinate full or partial interior repaints around possession and move-in dates.

Yes. Art-Tek Painting Co. provides a 3-year workmanship warranty on qualifying painting projects, subject to the project scope, substrate condition and coating system used.

Preparation depends on the condition of the surface. Depending on the project, this may include washing, scraping failed coatings, sanding, caulking, minor repairs and spot priming. At Art-Tek, preparation is never treated as an afterthought because the durability and appearance of the final finish depend heavily on what happens before the first coat is applied.

Yes. We can help homeowners compare colours, sheen levels and coating systems based on the room or exterior surface, existing colours, natural and artificial lighting, exposure and the level of durability required.

Painting is one of the most effective and affordable ways to improve the appearance, perceived condition and marketability of a home without undertaking a major renovation. A professionally repainted exterior creates a stronger first impression, while freshly painted walls, ceilings, doors and trim can make the entire interior feel brighter, cleaner, newer and better maintained. For homeowners preparing to sell, a well-painted property can strengthen buyer confidence and help the home present more competitively on the market. For those planning to stay, a refreshed interior or exterior can make the home feel more comfortable, welcoming and enjoyable to live in.While the financial return will vary depending on the property and market conditions, professional painting remains one of the lower-cost improvements capable of producing a significant visual transformation and enhancing the overall presentation and perceived value of a home.

We can discuss your project by phone and get a general understanding of the work, but for most painting projects we recommend an in-person assessment before providing a final quote. Every home is different. Surface condition, previous coatings, repairs, accessibility, ceiling heights, landscaping, furniture, colour changes and equipment requirements can all affect the amount of preparation, labour and paint required. Seeing the project in person allows us to assess the surfaces properly, determine the preparation required, estimate labour and materials more accurately and identify access or equipment requirements before work begins. The result is more accurate pricing, a clearer scope of work and fewer surprises.

Unless otherwise stated, our residential painting estimates include labour, paint and standard painting materials for the agreed scope. Preparation requirements, repairs, number of coats and the surfaces being painted are reviewed before the final quote is prepared.

We review furniture and room access during the project walkthrough. Smaller belongings should normally be removed before work begins. Larger furniture can often be moved away from the walls and carefully protected so the painting can be completed efficiently without unnecessary disruption.

Properly prepared stucco can be painted very successfully with the correct coating system. The critical factors are preparation, moisture content and using a coating suited to the substrate. As stucco ages, it can fade, become chalky, develop small cracks and lose its clean appearance. Depending on exposure and condition, many homeowners begin considering professional stucco painting after approximately 7–10 years. A professionally painted stucco exterior can look cleaner, brighter and more uniform while helping protect the surface for many years. Preparation is critical. The stucco should be thoroughly washed and rinsed several times, given sufficient time to dry deep into the porous surface, and coated correctly. On textured stucco, back-rolling the coating into the surface is a key part of achieving uniform coverage and long-term adhesion. If dirt remains on the surface, moisture is trapped inside the stucco or the coating is not properly worked into the texture, the risk of premature peeling or coating failure increases significantly. Who you hire matters.

Interior painting can be completed throughout much of the year, but we particularly recommend the period from early April through the end of November because outdoor temperatures generally make ventilation easier. When outside temperatures are above approximately 5°C, windows can often be opened slightly to help maintain airflow while larger areas are being painted. The premium interior paints we use are virtually odour-free and available in zero- or very-low-VOC systems. However, painting large wall and ceiling areas still introduces moisture into the indoor air while the coatings dry. During colder periods, a properly functioning HRV or air-exchange system can help control humidity and maintain airflow when windows cannot comfortably remain open.

Exterior painting is governed by air and surface temperature, moisture, direct sunlight, weather forecasts and the coating manufacturer’s requirements rather than the calendar alone. We schedule exterior work when conditions allow the coating system to dry and cure properly and avoid painting when cold temperatures, rain, frost or excessive moisture could compromise performance.

Yes. For larger townhouse and multi-family developments, painting crews can be organized around phased releases, buildings, floors or groups of units.
